Pulsar FM | Burkina Faso   [listen]
Since its creation in 1996, the radio is a major cultural player in Ouagadougou through its involvement in events such as the outdoor street arts festival. This special Fête de la Musique consists in two parts. First, we have an interview with a Burkina Faso musicologist on the theme “Traditional Music and Modern Music – Conflict or Complementarity?” The second part is with Burkina Faso artists who have worked with other national or non-national artists. Finally, the program will report on the preparations for the 2007 Fête de la Musique in Burkina Faso.

Mix by Desert Rebel | Niger, France  [listen]
Initiated by Farid Merabet and François Bergeron, the Desert Rebel collective was born from a trip to Niger and an introduction to Abdallah Oumbadougou, an emblematic Tuareg writer composer. The idea of a collective cultural project is: based on the Fair Trade model, profits are shared equally between European and African partners, and alternative music distribution channels are used. Guizmo (Tryo), Amazigh Kateb (Gnawa Diffusion) and Daniel Jamet (Mano Negra) were the first established artists to lend their talent to the project, with Sally Nyolo (Zap Mama), Imhotep (IAM), Junior Cony and Benjamin Sportes soon joining.
The music of Desert Rebel combines traditional music with desert blues, gnawa, rock reggae and French music.
